BIG DIG IS HERE!

After all the planning, meetings and bunting folding it’s here, THE BIG DIG has arrived!

bigdigbuntingatbordesleygreenFrom the 16th March food growing sites across Birmingham will be opening their doors, gates and sheds to introduce you to their sites, start the growing year and complete a range of activities including tree planting, seed sowing, soil preparation and MORE!

Find your local site using the postcode finder on the BIG DIG BRUM MAP and click on a garden for more information

URBAN VEG is open to volunteer Big Diggers on Wednesday 20th March. We’re inviting people to come and help us dig in green manure and sow some more. We will be digging from 10am to 3pm and running a tour of the garden at 1pm. Please use the Winterbourne House and Garden main entrance for access and say “Big Dig” when you enter for FREE ADMISSION to both Winterbourne and Urban Veg.

We hope that wherever you are you find a green gem on your doorstep, pop along and get involved BUT what ever you do, don’t let the forecasters dampen your spirits, grab waterproofs, boots and tools and make the most of a natural watering!

  1. We attended the Big Dig at Coplow Street Growsite today. It was fantastic! Thanks to everybody who organised The Big Dig – we met some lovely people, learned a few things and had a great time. 🙂
